ELEMAR DE SOUZA CRUZ PEARCE- MANAGING DIRECTOR, Plié Europe
Brazilian born Elemar founded her company Brazilian Shapewear in 2004 with her British husband and business partner John. Having both worked as a International Trade and Marketing Consultant for many of Brazil’s leading companies, Ellie spotted a trend towards shapewear in the underwear business and noticed Brazilian designers had a lot to offer.
She also saw that the Brazilian brands were developing shapewear with more emphasis on comfort and “cool”, making garments designed to flatter the female figure but “never be an embarrassment in the bedroom”. After months of negotiations, Elemar eventually sealed the deal to distribute the Plié brand across the whole of Europe. She’s since won distribution rights in Africa and the Middle East.
Originally qualified as a Journalist and PR, Elemar uses her natural communication skills in a number of different languages to let women all over Europe know about how wonderfully comfortable modern Brazilian shapewear is. Dividing her year between Brazil, UK and Portugal, Elemar is involved at every stage of product development, right through to marketing and customer feedback, bringing the very latest Plié shapewear and leisurewear designs to women looking for the most comfortable, best fitting shapewear.
